Swim meet for 02-18-2023
Please look at the information below for the meet this Saturday
Greetings Folks:
We are excited to be hosting the Ft Mill and McCrorey YMCAs for this Saturday’s swim meets. Attached is the events file to load to Team Manager or Team Unify. Please try and have all entries to me NLT than noon this Thursday, February 16 as I am running on a tight schedule this week and need some lead time to get the meet set up. I will send out Entry Reports and Heat Sheets on Friday afternoon.
Some things to know for the meet. Please share all of this with your teams.
1.We are located at 5900 Quail Hollow Road, Charlotte, NC, 28210.
2.The meet will be run in 2 sessions.
a.All 10 & Unders: We will allow entry to the indoor pool at 12:15. Coaches may enter before, but swimmers and parents will not be allowed in prior to 12:15. We have swim lessons and lap swimming up until 12:00 and need a little lead time to finish preparing the deck. Warm ups will begin at 12:30 and we look to promptly start the meet at 1:00.
b.All 11 & Overs: Please do not plan to enter the pool before the 1st session finishes (which should be around 2:15 or 2:20). We will plan to start warm ups between 2:30 and 2:40.
3.Team areas for Ft Mill and McCrorey are at the far side of the pool deck to the left when you enter (by the big mural wall). Swimmers are expected to stay in their team areas when not swimming.
4.Parents are welcome to bring chairs, I will have two sets of bleachers set up and a few benches, but that is all the seating I have.
5.The non-competition pools will be closed during the meet (except for a few private lessons that will be taking place).
6.During the meet, parents may not stand nor sit at either the starting end or the finishing end of the pool (Session 1 in particular due to the 25s). I had some issues with this at our last meet and I will call down parents and if uncooperative, ask them to leave. There should be plenty of room for everybody.
7.Due to capacity issues and the fact that at 1 session of the meet we will have between 75 and 100 swimmers, I am asking that we only have two parents per swimmer at a session. Also, unless they are swimming in another session, please do not bring siblings to the meet. Coach’s, if I do see this guideline is not being followed, I will be asking you to speak to the guilty parties and someone may be asked to leave. I understand that family wants to see their swimmer compete and childcare arrangements can be difficult, but we have capacity limitation to follow and for the safety of spectators and swimmers, I will be enforcing them.
8.Parents and swimmers are welcome to bring water and other drinks (as long as not in a glass or ceramic container). NO SNACKS ARE ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK FOR ANYONE UNLESS THEY HAVE A MEDICAL NEED (except coaches, it’s a long afternoon for all of us). This will be enforced. Neither session will last longer than about an hour and 15 minutes. This will be enforced. The café at our Y will not be open and I will be running a concession. Coaches, I expect you to enforce this as well.
9.I will need 3 or 4 timers from each team for the meet. I have 7 working stopwatches, so please bring stopwatches if you have them. I will have water for the timers since well hydrated timers are important for the success of the meet.
That is all I have for now. Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend.
Thank you,
David Williamson
