Thursday’s Swim Meet Info
Good Morning Parents!
We have received the information from the other team about their facility and the meet this Thursday, June 8. They organized it into attachments which makes it easy to print and bring with you. The most important change is the meet start time. The meet begins at 5pm and we must be there at 4:15pm.
Below are a few important reminders about swim meets.
Swim Meet Reminders:
🦈 Swimmers need to stay with their age groups with our team so we can find them when it is time to line them up for their event.
🦈 If you are not volunteering, kindly remain in the Tiger Shark Cheering Section-our seated side :) There are many areas near the starting blocks, the ends of the pool, and the swimmers/Coaches section that we can not have parents because of lack of space, distractions, and keeping the meet running as quickly as we can. Thank you for your help with this!
🦈 Volunteers running the swim meet will not be able to answer questions about the meet or swimtopia once warm-ups start because of how fast and involved the jobs are. Please ask another parent in the cheer section at that time. We are lucky to have many friendly veteran swim parents who would be happy to help answer questions during the meet :)
🦈 The only issue we had at Monday’s meet was some of the 9-10 boys section throwing snacks onto cars in the parking lot and a chair ended up breaking as well. We spoke to the group several times. (Some parents may have heard me use my teacher voice!) Please reiterate to your swimmers to behave when unsupervised. Of course we love for them to have fun and enjoy the meet, but we can’t have our swimmers doing things that damage property or could hurt others. If we see it becoming a pattern, the offenders will be disqualified from the rest of the swim meet. However, I don’t believe it will happen again, we’ve got a good group of kids and I think sugar levels were running high!
🦈 Paper heat sheets will not be available for meets. The GCS League switched over to digital heat sheets with Swimtopia a few seasons ago. In the Swimtopia app, you can tap on your swimmer to see the events they are swimming. Also, you can tap on “events” at the bottom to see all the events and who is swimming then from both teams if you have the “pro” version. I believe it is $2.50, which I find very helpful and much less than a cup of coffee nowadays!
Thank you again to all the families who offered help and were willing to jump right into a job! It was an amazingly smooth first swim meet! We all appreciate it greatly 😊
The meet information for Thursday is attached.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions!
Go Tiger Sharks!🦈
