Extra info for Thursday’s Meet

Hello Families,

The forecast is calling for more rain all day tomorrow.  We are lucky to have our indoor pool, but we still need to have our teams outside in the breezeway with their age groups so we are going to try to make them as comfortable as possible. Please consider the following:

🦈 Please bring your tents. We are going to try to make sure every single swimmer has room to sit under the tents!
🦈 Coach Harry suggested having your swimmer bring a chair to sit on. Similar to the chairs us adults use for the spectator area, the chairs can be the lightweight camping chairs or easily foldable chairs. We do not have enough plastic chairs for the kids at the pool, so bringing your own chair for your swimmer is encouraged.
🦈 Send your swimmer with a sweatshirt, jacket, or robe for them to keep warm. Rain jackets are also encouraged!

🦈 Keep extra towels with you in case your swimmer uses all their towels.

🦈 If it is only rain, the meet will proceed as planned, unless the lifeguards and coaches determine it would be unsafe conditions.  If there is thunder or lightning, everyone will clear the pool deck and gather in the basketball gym for 30 minutes.  Every time there is thunder or lightning, the 30 minute delay restarts.  The Greater Charlotte Swim League Board has sent the bylaws about weather.  They state that after starting, meets can be delayed a maximum of 60 minutes before the meet is called, but team representatives can decide to delay longer (As our team rep, I will not choose to delay longer.  We have many young swimmers that do not need to be out that late and this huge rain system moving through this week hasn’t been quick showers here and there!).  Lifeguards also have a say on continuing or calling a Meet based on the weather.

I hope this email helps you feel informed and prepared. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try my best to help!

Go Tiger Sharks!🦈
