Hello Parents!

This week, we have a swim meet on Saturday, January 20. We will be swimming in the FMAC pool. Below you’ll find helpful information for our Winter home meet routine, and some reminders and tips for volunteering. As soon as we get the meet information uploaded into Swimtopia, I’ll open volunteer signups and send out an email to let you know!

🦈 Home meets will be held in the FMAC pool. There is plenty of bleacher seating, no need to bring chairs.

🦈 You may park in the lot in front of the FMAC pool, or the front lot of the YMCA. The only door you’ll be allowed to enter through is the main doors of FMAC.

🦈 Our swimmers will sit at the far end of the pool where there are no bleachers. They will sit with their age groups for the entire meet. If they are not present when we are lining them up for their event, we will have no choice but to scratch them from the heat sheet, or sub them if it’s a relay. Unfortunately, this must be done because of how fast the meet moves and our lack of time/people to go looking for swimmers who aren’t with their age groups.

🦈 Coach Harry & Coach Kayla will decide which events your swimmer will compete in. You do not have to do anything in Swimtopia or online for this. Once we have the meet info uploaded, your swimmer’s events will show up in your Swimtopia app.

🦈Many parents ask if it is necessary to write the events on their child’s arm. This is not necessary in order for us to run the meet, we will call your child up to get in line for their event when the time comes. However, some parents find that it helps their child’s anxiety to know what events they will be swimming, whether it’s writing it on their arm or on a piece of paper.

🦈 Parents are required to stay in the area of the bleachers/concessions. Parents are not permitted in the team area where the children are sitting with their age groups, unless they are volunteering in that section. Please enjoy the swim meet from the spacious bleachers in FMAC!

🦈Volunteers and swimmers will check in with “Swimmer & Parent Volunteer Check-In Person”. This person will have a clipboard and be stationed near the front door when you enter the FMAC pool.

🦈 Swimmers need to be at our pool at 12:15pm. The meet begins at 1pm. We will have warm-ups before the meet starts.

🦈Our concession volunteers will set up inside the FMAC concession stand. Per YMCA restrictions, no children under the age of 18 are allowed behind the concession stand. Our concession stand accepts cash or Venmo.

🦈 We have many volunteer jobs to fill in order to run a meet at home. We need all the help we can get! Please find a volunteer position to sign up for when we open the volunteer sign-ups. To view information about a particular job, tap the “i” button next to the job. Don’t be nervous, we can train you and most of the jobs are quite easy once you get the hang of it. We will hold a volunteer meeting at 12:45pm.

🦈 Please email me (Jessica) ASAP if your swimmer will be absent on Saturday (or in the future) so we can take them off the roster and relays.
