Swim Meet Info for Sat. Feb. 3
Hello Swim Families!
This week, we have a swim meet on Saturday, February 3. We will be swimming in the FMAC pool. Below you’ll find helpful information for our Winter home meet routine, and some reminders and tips for volunteering. This time, the swimmers will NOT be sitting in the bleachers as we had way too many issues with the younger children last Saturday. The swimmers will be sitting at the far end of the pools, opposite of the entrance, behind the unused blocks. VOLUNTEER SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN!
🦈 Swimmers need to be at our pool at 12:15pm. The meet begins at 1:15pm. We will have warm-ups at 12:30pm.
🦈 Home meets are held in the FMAC pool. There is plenty of bleacher seating, no need to bring chairs.
🦈 You may park in the lot in front of the FMAC pool, or the front lot of the YMCA. The only door you’ll be allowed to enter through is the main door of FMAC.
🦈 Our swimmers will sit with their age groups for the entire meet. If they are not present when we are lining them up for their event, we will have no choice but to scratch them from the heat sheet, or sub them if it’s a relay. Unfortunately, this must be done because of how fast the meet moves and our lack of time/people to go looking for swimmers who aren’t with their age groups.
🦈Please have a talk with your swimmer about listening carefully for their name to be called, and paying attention when they are behind the blocks so they don’t miss their event. We take every step we can to prevent events being missed, but we need help from you and your swimmers as well! It can get extremely chaotic and busy in an instant, so the kids need to pay attention.
🦈Please go over what events your child is swimming with them before the meet. If it helps them to remember, you may write it on their arm with a sharpie, or a piece of paper inside their swim bag. The swimmers need to know what to expect & what events to be ready for.
🦈 Coach Harry & Coach Kayla will decide which events your swimmer will compete in. Please do not tell the coaches what events you want your child to swim, as your child may not even be willing or able. The Coaches place swimmers in events based on their skill, willingness, and several other factors. Once this is complete, your swimmer’s events will show up in the Swimtopia App.
🦈 Parents are required to stay in the area of the spectator bleachers/concessions. Parents are not permitted in the team area where the children are sitting with their age groups. Please enjoy the swim meet from the spacious bleachers in FMAC! This is NOT a drop-off event. Parents are required to stay in attendance if their child is swimming in the meet.
🦈Volunteers and swimmers will check in with “Swimmer & Parent Volunteer Check-In Person”. This person will have a clipboard and be stationed near the front door when you enter the FMAC pool.
🦈Our concession volunteers will set up inside the FMAC concession stand. Per YMCA restrictions, no children under the age of 18 are allowed behind the concession stand. Our concession stand accepts cash or Venmo.
🦈 We have many volunteer jobs to fill in order to run a meet at home. We need all the help we can get! Please find a volunteer position to sign up for. To view information about a particular job, tap the “i” button next to the job. Don’t be nervous, we can train you and most of the jobs are quite easy once you get the hang of it. We will hold a volunteer meeting 15-20 minutes before the start of the meet. Please sign up asap!
🦈 Please email me (Jessica) ASAP if your swimmer will be absent on Saturday (or in the future) so we can take them off the roster and relays.
Feel free to email me with any questions!
Go Tiger Sharks!🦈
