Hello Swim Families!

This is going to be an email where I ask you please don’t shoot the messenger lol. We have received meet info from the Lowe’s YMCA. They have many restrictions and difficult rules and I know it is not going to be easy or doable for many families. Just let me know ASAP if you are NOT attending. I know we already have several families out of town for the long weekend and thank you for letting me know!

🦈 The meet location is: LOWE’S YMCA, 170 Joe Knox Ave., Mooresville, NC 28117. It is about an hour away for most of us.

🦈 Here is the EXACT quote from the email we received from their team- “We have extremely limited deck space at our facility. We can only allow ONE SPECTATOR per child to attend. Please reinforce this with parents. If the deck space becomes overcrowded, we will ask spectators to wait outside until their child's event, and then return to wait outside the natatorium. Dress in layers.” I am assuming they say dress in layers because they’ll be making people wait outside. I know this is going to be extremely difficult for many families, especially because of siblings! Don’t worry if you can’t attend. Just reply to this email to let me know.

🦈 The meet will be broken into 2 sessions:

🦈 Session 1: (10 & Under)-Arrive at 1:00pm, warm-ups at 1:15pm, meet starts at 1:45pm.

🦈 Session 2: (11 & Over)-Arrive at 3:40pm, warm-ups, then meet starts. (That is all the info they gave us about session 2.)

🦈 Note from their team: “Our branch closes at 4:00 pm. Once swimmers are let into the pool area, the front desk will close the branch. The natatorium doors will be cracked open for any one arriving after 4:00 pm, but the lobby will be closed.”

🦈Info about seating from their team: “We do not have bleachers or seating area. Parents are welcome to bring chairs. Guest team parents will sit on the starter side (window) of the pool area (one parent per swimmer).”

🦈 They informed that they have a very small table that they sell water and snacks from. Please pack snacks for your child if you wish.

🦈 They have 4 lanes at their pool, each session should go fairly quickly just like at the bubble last Saturday, but better because it’s split 10 & Under/11 & Over!

This is unfortunately going to be the same situation for Championships at Harris Y. If your child qualifies for Championships (the coaches will let us know this in the coming week), they are only allowing ONE parent per swimmer and NO siblings. I’m a parent too, I also think it’s ridiculous. I’ll send another email about Championships next week but I want to make everyone aware of what they are requiring because some families may have to make some decisions or plans.
